About Creative Designs

Established in 1977 during the recession and three day week, Creative Designs was initially a general design company formed by Tom Coughtrie, a graduate of Birmingham School of Art and winner of the 1975 Royal Society of Arts, Industrial Design Award. The project involved the future development of kitchen furniture and appliances and formed Tom's introduction to the specialised area of kitchen design, many of the ideas that formed the basis of that award are products only recently introduced to the market.

The first showroom at 195 High Street, Ayr was opened in February 1980 and incorporated on the first floor Pandora Coffee Shop, a well known and popular meeting place in Ayr Town Centre. The High Street showroom was demolished to make way for the Kyle Shopping Centre and relocated to our present showroom at Apex House, 1 Carrick Road, Ayr, opposite Ayr Grammar School.
